;a homesickness for a home that never existed, the nostalgia, the grief and the yearning for a lost place
Hireath is as continuation from my previous project ‘ reverie”, exploring my struggles with my psychological well-being by using vibrant installations to create a daydream world to escape my troubled thoughts/feelings. The piece invites the audience to explore and feel the difference between reality and fiction. Although my work may appear blissful at first site, however, the more you engage with it, the more you'll notice that the meanings associated with the flowers depict a darker narrative.
These books provide a safe haven for readers, like me, inviting us to suspend our disbelief and embrace the extraordinary possibilities that unfold within the storylines. The author's words become brushstrokes, painting vivid images and evoking emotion. The boundaries between fiction and reality blur in the flow of time, providing an atmosphere where daydreams seamlessly intertwine with the captivating stories within the pages. My purpose is to give others the same feelings, to give them a safe space that allows them to feel free to stay in for however long they like. To serve as a sanctuary where even the darkest of thought can find refuge.
By hiding the girl's face, the image becomes more universal, allowing viewers to transfer their own feelings, experiences, and interpretations onto her. Without distinguishing face traits, the girl represents everyone who has ever sought shelter and escape in the world of imagination and dream. This ambiguity allows viewers to see themselves reflected in her, resulting in a stronger connection and resonance with the image.
